The Role
A software designer/Lead Software Designer is responsible for developing software and tools to accomplish project objectives. Key responsibilities of this role include ensuring that software is developed to meet both the functional and non-functional requirements of the project. Thought should be given to important development principles of the Bank. Ensuring robust work through the use of unit testing and integration testing are also important facets of this role.
Proficiency on advanced SAS and industry wide development principles is a pre-requisite, as is the ability to learn technical skills and the tools to do the job. The candidate would be expected to be proficient in a wider array of languages or platforms and have the ability to undertake larger components of work and contribute to the design of those components.
What the Business Does
This role is based in the Risk solutions at Technology Services India division reporting to the Project Manager.
Your Responsibilities
As Software designer/ Lead Software Designer, you will be required to:
• Focus on how the software being developed can benefit our customers and ensure that work undertaken is in the best interests of those customers
• Build relationships with other members of the delivery team and the wider department
• Contribute to the strategic vision of the team / project / department by developing software and tools to meet project objectives
• Ensure work done is aligned to the principles of software development within RBS.Where possible attend RBS internal technical events to widen technical knowledge and become part of the wider development community
• Advance the knowledge of their project team and department in technical matters by maintaining an understanding of new and innovative technologies.Deliver work as agreed with line management / project management
• Raise issues and concerns to your line manager at the earliest possible opportunity
Skills you need
• Relevant Work experience of 4 - 10years.
• Significant experience & demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of SAS Data Integration Studio(DI Studio), SAS Management Console, Platform Process Manager, Teradata (or similar database technology).
• Data warehouse experience, Experience in Star Schema/Snowflake modelling, FACT & Dimensions tables
• Experience and understanding of data processing involving relational databases (e.g. SAS Data Warehouse, SQL Server).Perform design review of SAS applications, ensuring compliance with best practices and performance
• Able to quickly understand and familiarize themselves with complex systems.Ability to learn the technical specifics of the given project.Understanding of good development and testing practices
• Able to interpret requirements and develop code to meet those requirements, both functional and non-functional
